An award for a completed development that demonstrates and promotes sustainable design principles (over and above required 5 star rating), innovation, accessibility and respect for neighbourhood character. Nominations for this award have been entered via Council’s Steps and Sustainability Development Scorecard Assessments or other accredited assessment tool.
WINNER: Eco-Block Home owner
The Eco-Block home is an everyday example to the community that it is easy and worthwhile to build an environmentally friendly home and still have it look like an ordinary house. The house is orientated for high passive solar performance, supplemented by very highthermal mass, excellent insulation, creating a comfortable home all year round with minimal carbon emissions. Utilising good design concepts and innovative construction techniques, this family home achieves a 6-plus star rating.
